MR in trichloroethane poisoning.

چکیده
We present a case of acute trichloroethane intoxication caused by inhalation of typewriter correction fluid. CT and MR findings revealed lesions in the basal ganglia and cortex similar to those observed in patients with methanol and carbon monoxide poisoning.

An unusual autoerotic fatality associated with chloroform inhalation.
We report the death of a young male attributed to chloroform poisoning during autoerotic asphyxia. He was found lying on the floor of his apartment, prone on a piece of foam and a towel. His eyes were bound with a towel, his lower face and nose were almost entirely covered with duct tape surrounding a rubber hose in his mouth. The other end of the hose was loosely sitting inside an open bottle ...
متن کاملIndustrial gassing poisonings due to trichlorethylene, perchlorethylene, and 1-1-1 trichloroethane, 1961-80.
During the period 1961-80, 384 cases of industrial gassing poisonings by trichlorethylene, perchlorethylene, and 1-1-1 trichloroethane (methylchloroform) were reported to HM Factory Inspectorate. A study of these data, which have been collated and analysed with particular reference to sex, age, clinical manifestations, and circumstances of the incident, is presented. Possible bias of the data o...
متن کاملThe role of MR imaging in assessment of brain damage from carbon monoxide poisoning: a review of the literature.
SUMMARY The aim of this article is to review how MR imaging and associated imaging modalities provide clinicopathologic information on brain damage after carbon monoxide poisoning. Initially, many authors documented typical findings of conventional MR imaging in the gray matter structures such as the globus pallidus and in various regions of cerebral white matter. The focus of investigation has...
متن کاملAcute carbon monoxide poisoning: diffusion MR imaging findings.
During the acute stage of carbon monoxide poisoning, diffusion MR images obtained at b=1000 s/mm2 revealed high signal intensity lesions in the white matter, consistent with restricted diffusion. Low apparent diffusion coefficient values (0.18-0.34 x 10(-3) mm2/s) were noted in the affected white matter regions. Follow-up MR imaging performed 16 days later revealed disappearance of white matter...
متن کاملHemorrhagic necrosis and vascular injury in carbon monoxide poisoning: MR demonstration.
MR imaging of a patient 3-years status post-carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning revealed areas of abnormal signal bilaterally in the region of the globus pallidus that had shorter T1 characteristics and longer T2 characteristics than cerebrospinal fluid, probably representing methemoglobin, and that is surrounded by a rim of decreased signal on T2-weighted images, felt to represent hemosiderin. This...
